Cox & Kings case studyCox & Kings is the world's longest established travel company (established 1758) and organises high quality journeys to many of the world's most fascinating regions. Over the last three years we have been closely involved in a number of their exquisite pieces of marketing collateral.


In 2008 Cox & Kings celebrated their 250th anniversary as a tour operator. They required a new family of brochure cover designs to tie in with the launch of various key events to be held throughout the year.<br /><br />We developed a simple, clean elegant style which was highly distinctive from the competition; with distinctive duo-tone imagery linked to their product colourways. New national press campaign; highly visual adverts using exquisite photography, coupled with new distinctive company strap line: <i>Travel Experienced.</i><br /><br />We developed this line to reflect the company’s unique heritage, whilst emphasising the double meaning that as a customer of C&K, you will truly experience travel. We developed this one-off 4 week national broadsheet campaign by way of a special promotion. Our brief was to remain true to the C&K ethos of high production values aimed at a high-end audience; but to market some extremely generous travel offers.<br /><br />Subtle, typographically-led and slightly tongue-in-cheek campaign that suggested the reader’s reaction to the proposition, which itself sat below at the base of the page. Simple phrases such as ‘<i>Agog</i>’ & ‘<i>Adjusts Specs</i>’ reflected a gentle, more euphemistic approach to the more predictable mainstream ‘special offer’. Each year we design, produce and manage the 60k+ print fulfilment for two key DM campaigns. The first is the main Brochure Request DM, with a follow up DM piece later in the year, with a date related special offering.<br /><br />The brief is to design prestigious collateral, with high-end production values that reflect the C&K cultural ethos. Without exception each campaign has been a success, creating 11%+ response rates for brochure orders; with the latest ‘Passport’ campaign having become a genuine keep-sake token by the customers. The agency was approached to re-design and create a new web site for Cox & Kings. This included revisiting the navigation, and building up to 25 new master navigation templates including flash based interactive map.
